The Legend
Megingjörð, meaning the belt of might, is one of the three great treasures of Thor, alongside his hammer Mjölnir and his iron gloves Járngreipr. When the thunder god buckles it on, his already vast strength is doubled.
Thor is the strongest of all the gods, yet even he relies on this belt when facing the greatest of foes. Girded with Megingjörð, he can lift heavier burdens, strike harder blows, and stand firm against enemies who would overwhelm any other.
The belt appears again and again in Thor's battles with the giants, a quiet source of the power behind his thunderous reputation. A very similar belt of might, lent by the giantess Gríðr, once saved Thor when he was tricked into facing the giant Geirröd unarmed.
