Overview
Gullinkambi (“Golden Comb” or “Golden Crest”) is the radiant rooster who stands atop Valhalla, the hall of the slain. His shimmering golden feathers and brilliant crest shine with an otherworldly light, making him one of the most striking creatures in the Norse cosmos.
According to prophecy, Gullinkambi will crow loudly at the dawn of Ragnarök — awakening the einherjar, the chosen warriors of Odin, and signaling that the final battle between gods and giants has begun.
Gullinkambi is one of three mythical roosters associated with Ragnarök, each crowing in different realms: one in Valhalla, one in Jötunheim (Fjalar), and one in Hel’s domain. Together, they herald the end of the world as it is known.
