Sága

Goddess of Wisdom and Story, Companion of Odin

The Keeper of Tales

Sága is a Norse goddess linked with wisdom, memory, and the telling of tales. She dwells in a great hall called Sökkvabekk, whose name means the sunken bench or sinking stream, over which cool waters are said to flow.

There she and Odin drink together every day, gladly and from cups of gold. The image of the two sharing wisdom and story has made Sága a figure closely tied to the deep knowledge that the All-Father so treasures.

Her very name echoes the word saga, the great tradition of Norse storytelling, and later ages have seen in her a goddess of history and of the tales that preserve the memory of gods and heroes.
