Forseti

God of Justice, Reconciliation, and Fair Judgment

Forseti, the Norse god of justice

The Peacemaker

Forseti is the Norse god of justice, law, and reconciliation. He is the son of the shining Baldr and the devoted Nanna, and he inherits their gentle and gracious nature, turning it toward the settling of quarrels.

He dwells in a magnificent hall called Glitnir, which has pillars of red gold and a roof of silver that shines from far away. There Forseti sits in judgment, and it is said that all who bring their disputes before him leave reconciled, no matter how bitter the quarrel.

Where Tyr represents the courage and oaths behind the law, Forseti embodies its calm resolution. He is the best of judges among gods and men, a figure of fairness, mediation, and lasting peace.
