Overview
Veðrfölnir is a hawk that dwells at the very top of Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Perched atop the branches sits a great, unnamed eagle who knows many things, and between that eagle's eyes sits the hawk Veðrfölnir, keeping its own sharp watch over the worlds.
The name Veðrfölnir is often taken to mean something like the weather-bleached or wind-faded one, fitting for a bird that lives in the high winds at the crown of the cosmos.
Though little is told of the hawk beyond its perch, it stands opposite the dragon Nidhogg far below at the roots. Between the heights where the eagle and hawk sit and the depths where the dragon gnaws, the squirrel Ratatoskr runs to keep their old quarrel alive.
