Overview
Svaðilfari is the legendary stallion who aided the giant master builder in his attempt to construct an impregnable wall around Asgard. His strength and endurance were so extraordinary that the gods feared the builder would complete the task in time — thus winning Freyja, the sun, and the moon as payment.
To prevent this disastrous bargain from succeeding, Loki transformed into a mare to lure Svaðilfari away. This distraction caused the builder to fail his deadline and, unexpectedly, led to the birth of Sleipnir, Odin’s eight-legged horse.
Svaðilfari represents pure strength, unwavering endurance, and the unpredictable consequences that arise when gods and giants collide in cleverness and power.
